Sharon L. Gee-Mascarello
Sharon is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and since 1996 has been a part-time instructor for the Mortuary Science Program at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Department of Fundamental and Applied Sciences, at Wayne State University in Detroit. Sharon received a B.S. in Psychology and Mortuary Science from Wayne State University. She is also President of the Michigan Embalmers Society, Vice President of the American Society of Embalmers, and a member of the British Institute of Embalmers and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. Sharon was awarded the Mortuary Science Program Part-Time Faculty Award in 1998, 2004, and 2011, the 2013 Mortuary Science Instructor of the Year, and the Gift of Life Michigan Eversight Michigan Donation Champion Award for professionals in the funeral service industry. Sharon presented “The Role of the Embalmer in Support of Organ and Tissue Donation” workshop at the 2015 National Funeral Directors Association convention in Indianapolis, and she is the author of “Organ, Tissue and Eye Donation, What I’m Teaching My Students,” in addition to other professional publications.
Dr. Rob Kurtzman
Dr. Kurtzman is Montana’s new State Medical Examiner as of September 17, 2016. He received a B.A. in Biology at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, a Doctorate of Osteopathy from Des Moines University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and has been medically licensed in Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Montana. Dr. Kurtzman is also the owner of Rocky Mountain Forensic Services, PLLC, the laboratory medical director of Rangely District Hospital in Rangely, CO, and volunteer faculty at Colorado Mesa University. He has also been a general medical practitioner, deputy coroner, deputy medical examiner, and pathologist, and has given numerous presentations on a variety of subjects relating to osteopathy and forensic pathology.

Adam Schrom joined the staff of the NYS Funeral Directors Association in 2012, first serving as an administrator of “PrePlan”, the association’s master trust program, followed by a Members Services Specialist. In February 2015, he was named the Director of PreNeed Trust Services. In this capacity, Schrom is charged with managing all of the association’s trust operations. Under his stewardship, PrePlan is now the largest funeral master trust in the nation with more than $690 million now held safely and securely for more than 93,000 consumers. Schrom also oversees the administration of the Montana Funeral Trust (MFT). Schrom earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Institute of Technology, and is also a 2015 graduate of the Empire State Society of Association Executives’ Association Leadership Academy.
